Live Family build · age 12 2026

A confidence-building life-RPG for a 12-year-old gamer — four AI coaches, one brain.

A Telegram Mini App that meets a mega-gamer where he already is: a gamified quest system with AI 'coach' buddies designed to build real-world self-efficacy, plus a real-money chore economy from Mom.

The brief

Mikey is 12, a serious gamer, and — like a lot of kids that age — carries more self-doubt than he lets on. The design problem wasn’t “make a habit app.” It was: build something that uses game language he already loves to nudge him toward real wins that actually move confidence — without becoming one more screen that hooks him.

What I built

A Telegram Mini App built on the same four-pillar engine (Body, Mind, Spirit, Craft), skinned gamer-first. Four AI “coaches” share one memory — four faces, one brain — and are deliberately designed as coaches, not companions: they push toward real humans and real mastery, and aim to be less needed over time.

  • Confidence by mechanic, not flattery — progress comes from a quest and wins-log system, with process-praise over empty validation.
  • A safety spine for a minor — a crisis tripwire on the emotionally sensitive coach routes to a hardened model and escalates to a trusted adult; built to current youth-AI guidance.
  • Mom’s real-money economy — a 21-job Payday ledger turns chores and healthy habits into tracked, real earnings.

How it’s built

Fully serverless on Cloudflare — a single front-end app, one Worker, and KV for state — with AI routed through OpenRouter: a Claude model for the safety-critical coach, a fast inexpensive model for the rest, behind a hard spend cap.

Why it matters

This one is about responsibility as much as craft: designing an AI experience for a child that’s genuinely helpful, honestly visible to parents, and built to the right standards — while still being something a 12-year-old calls “really slick.”
